Ghana Adventist Choir Union Celebrates Half a Century of Music, Ministry, and Praise

Fifty years! FIFTY! If that doesn’t make you want to stand up and clap your hands, we don’t know what will! The Ghana Adventist Choir Union — affectionately known as GACU — has reached one of the most monumental milestones in the history of Adventist choral music, and the celebration has been absolutely everything!

For five decades, GACU has done one thing with extraordinary faithfulness: lifted the name of Jesus through the power of song. And what a journey it has been!

Half a Century of “My Heart and Voice for Jesus”

The motto says it all — “My Heart and Voice for Jesus.” Those six words have been the heartbeat of GACU since its founding, and fifty years later, they ring truer than ever.

From the very beginning, GACU was built on a simple but powerful conviction: that music is ministry. That when voices unite in harmony, something heavenly happens. That a choir is not just a performance group — it is a calling, a testimony, a movement.

And what a movement GACU has become! Across Ghana, across the diaspora, and now here in the UK — the sound of GACU has travelled far, touched countless hearts, and brought many souls closer to God.

Fifty Years in the Making — and Still Going Strong!

Look at where it all started. A group of passionate, God-fearing Adventist musicians who believed that the church deserved choral excellence — music that wasn’t just good, but anointed. Music that didn’t just fill a hall, but filled hearts.

And they built something that has outlasted trends, outlasted challenges, and outlasted every reason to stop. Fifty years of rehearsals. Fifty years of Sabbath mornings filled with soaring harmonies. Fifty years of new members joining, learning, growing, and carrying the torch forward to the next generation.

That is not just an achievement. That is a miracle.

A Celebration Fit for the Occasion

The 50th anniversary celebrations have been a sight to behold — and the joy in the room has been absolutely infectious! Members dressed in their stunning blue Ankara uniforms, badges proudly displaying the golden “50” emblem, gathering together as one family united by faith and song.

And what a family it is! From founding veterans who remember the very first rehearsals, to young voices who have only recently discovered the joy of singing for God — GACU at 50 is multigenerational, multicultural, and more vibrant than ever.

This is what fifty years of faithful ministry looks like. This is what it means to keep showing up, keep singing, and keep saying yes to God’s calling — decade after decade after decade.

To Everyone Who Has Ever Worn the GACU Badge

This anniversary belongs to every single person who has ever stood in a GACU choir, learned a GACU anthem, attended a GACU concert, or been moved to tears by a GACU performance. You are part of this story. You are part of this legacy.

To the founders who dared to dream — thank you.
To the directors and conductors who shaped voices into vessels — thank you.
To the members past and present who gave their hearts and voices — thank you.
To the families who cheered from the pews — thank you.

Because of you, fifty years later, GACU is still standing, still singing, and still glorifying God with everything it has.

The Next Fifty Years Start Now

If the first fifty years are anything to go by, the best is absolutely still to come. New voices are rising. New songs are being written. New chapters are being added to the GACU story — and God is not finished yet.

So here’s to fifty years of music that has moved mountains, changed lives, and brought heaven a little closer to earth. Here’s to the Ghana Adventist Choir Union — past, present, and future.

Keep singing. Keep shining. Keep lifting His name.
